Days end

Just me, chilling on my Vespa. Oh, I didn't see you there.
So, after a mild computer crash, and failed attempts at rendering, I have relocated to Uni, its something about working late at uni that just gets me ever time. Also, no one else is here, so I can get naked.
Burn all the chairs. Just to be safe.
So, my mild computer melt down was all of my work thus far. What I have recovered is most of what I had done, and not taken any pictures of in the past, so the model is more a less the same, just with a few less features. I would go back and remake a whole heap of them, but for the time I have left its just not worth the pain, and I have work tomorrow. So yeah. Also for references sake, its actually the 27th, not the 29th. Im doing better than I usually do. Onto the actual modeling:
here it is
I know its build around my old mouse, but I kind of like it. I would actually have it build if I had the cash (you know that bike that has been in the previous posts? yeah, bought it. Its dope) but there are a few issues, that I know you will spot when you checkout my model with all your evaluation tools, that a I started teaching myself. Anyway, I'm about to start the rendering, which is going to be so much better than last time. It will be. That was shocking last time. Really was.

Rendering takes ages. This time, I have actually gone to the trouble of reading your rendering guide, and the final product is looking much nicer. Rather than finishing the movie tonight, I'm going to finish the rendering board, then do the movie tomorrow night. I know that's cutting it a little short, but I have experience with inventor for movies, and I'm assuming the problems will be quite similar. Hoping anyway. Also I'm really sleepy, so yeah, that wins over cad at the moment.

Also, somewhere along the track, some relation died, and now the entire mouse is off center. No idea why, just running with it.

Yep.
Thats really as exciting as it gets. I mean, its lots of watching that. It drives me insane, but what you going to do? At home Ive got a bike wheel I'm yet to build, that also drives me insane, so you know.

I'm really proud of what I've just made:
The way its meant to be spelt
Look, I know its not the beezes kneezes, but its something better than before.

Thats it for tonight.

Movie tomorrow night.

Wish me luck.

Dude

Yeah, its that bike again.
So as you may have guessed, I like this bike, and IT WILL BE MINE TODAY/TOMORROW!!!! wooooooo.

Anyways, Ive used way to much of this blog on that bike so back to work. Dam it man, stop getting distracted. (ooooooooo Squirrel)
You just know he's playing dueling banjos. That is one dark movie. Really.
With the mouse, I'm not happy the way its come out. Really not happy at all, I think it looks like crap, and I'm ashamed I was going to pass it up. So rather than make an entire new mouse, I'm going to use the base from my old mouse and make a new top with new buttons, cause I believe that will look better. That and I put a lot of time into that design, so I want to.

No
So I'm making a new top, which is a lot harder than I would have thought, mainly because I've forgotten the modeling techniques that I used in the first place. Its all good tho, I will figure it out.

Ive been working on the modeling well hardcore, will post later.

MOUSE PART 2

Its so cute
Okay so, after a little break (a few weeks now) I'm ready to get back into the cadding. Yeah baby, that's right, I'm back.

Also, on the bike front, I decided to go with the green Cinelli Mash, cause its awesome. Its going to be green with silver parts. Cause that will look amazing.
Or mabs black. I donno, its going have H plus Sons TB14 rims, they are so sexy.
Back to the stuff you care about:
The Mouse.
It looks a little 1990's cause its  a little square. I dont really care tho, its really quite nice to hold in both hands, and will easily fit all the parts from the old mouse, they may look a little dwarfed in there tho, but stuff it, I dont care.
Pewdiepie, youtube him, hes sorta funny. And he doesn't care.
So the mouse is being modeling much the same way as the last mouse, as that way worked well, except due to the profiles, I cant really use projected curves, which is a blessing in disguise. As I hate them. A lot. Really a lot.
Yeah Boi
As usual im having issues with making this. I forgot how much effort actually goes into making these dang mouses, Its more then I wanted and expected. Mainly cause im making a slightly retarded shape, but what you going to do? I mean, Make a different one? HA.
So its a little hard to see, but im trying to make the dang top of this mouse, and ive changed methods like 7 or 8 times now. This is getting a little annoying, to be honest. At the moment, Im trying to loft from the left plane (7) to the point on plane 4. This is sorta working.

Now I havnt actually been taking photos, which again im a little annoyed at myself, but I find if I stop to take photos, I loose my train of thought, then im back an hour. So forgive me. Anyways, Ill recap the last hour or so, what I have been doing is making the construction for the pcb form the old mouse to go in, which involved heaps of assemblys and just genral construction. Its been slow, but it works for me so suck it.

You thought I meant the one eyed trouser snake. Mind out of the gutter Dan, mind out of the Gutter.
Did you know that last pic was from Canada, land of the cheap medical insurance. Go figure. So its all going good, Ill try to get some more pictures up. For now enjoy this video of one of my fav. bikes:

http://vimeo.com/44328864

Ok, Ive finished the mouse. TADAR:
Not my best, but still
I will admit, its not the most amazing of mice, and the curvature could be better, but I believe for the sake of the project it fills the required components. The video will be cool.

Its got a stash pocket in the rear. Ha
It also could have been smaller. What ever.

They are family, Yo.
Cool, that about does it for today. I think I might go home.

Monday 4 June 2012

It almost killed me.

In case you cant tell, that stanley Kunerick (i think thats how you spell it) behind the mouse. Its the mouse shining. Dan you ruined it. Sigh. This is why we cant have nice things.
First up, I would like to say sorry for my Ad. It was shocking. Really bad. Really bad. If you find it within yourself, let me resubmit it. Anyhow, moving onto the new project I was thinking of making the movie something special, with lights and music, we shall see.

Im thinking like the first 30 seconds of this for my video:

That will be excellent. Will soon post pics of my mouse as I have done it, atm its sorta nothing.

Sunday 27 May 2012

4:44am

This is getting out of hand. Well, Ive finished the modeling and whatnot, so now im moving on to the renderings. I should have taken sunday off work. Stupid work that I hate.

Anyways, the renders are looking quite cool, Im rather impressed with how they are turning out, all that stuff we did mucking around with the grade A surfaces really paid off at the end of the day, or morning, whatever.

Take it, bitch
The renderings are now rendering, im SO SO SO scared that my hdd is just going to pack up and die, and I will have to email you at 5am letting you know I have thrown myself off the balcony, after security asked me to move my bike for the cleaners that NEVER CAME. IM ON TO YOU UNISA.

Im really really bad at Photoshop.

It is now 6:38AM, and I wish to leave. So with my terrerbad Photoshop I shall start to long process of pack and go and get going home.

He Just got F'ed in the A!

So, working on the project, the night before its due. Classy Phillip, Classy.

Anyways, Ive started creating the clips and whatnot, and am having problems, mainly to due with solidworks and the shell function doing really whatever the hell they want. I mean, what ever they want. And Ive tried multiple times, to no affect. Ill show you some pics, my adoring audience:
bump?
Really?.......
So, because of this, it means I don't have room for the last clip, and therefore Im not doing it and you can't tell me otherwise, because your not my father, dad, I mean Dan....
"I fucking told you" -Sigmund Freud
So anyways, Ill keep modeling and whatnot.

Also I did the mouse wheel bit, cause it makes me feel good on the inside.
Okay, Sorry bout the lack of blogging, I'm just finding, I'm working through all my problems without really thinking about it. What I mean by that is, before, when I had a problem I would take a picture, write a paragraph about it and add a fun photo, but now I'm looking straight for the solution, which I think marks real progress. That being said, there was one feature in autodesk' inventor which I value above all the surface modeling in solidwork's, and that was the ability to create a sketch on any surface without having to add a plane. That bugs me behold what any man could imagine. Mainly because I know its in another program that isn't really quite as good.

Still, Ill try to keep the photos coming, which is hard cause im moving what feels so fast, but really is about the slowest thing in the world, when ever you look at a clock. For reference's sake ill keep updating the time. Its currently 12.54AM. I got here at like 8Pm and its felt like maybe 15min has passed.
This is where inventor is king, and solidworks and eat a bullet
Wait. That last rant about solidworks and inventor doesnt make sense. I think its because im in a assembly.

What ever.

Also I love the extrude to surface feature. I know its probs not that accurate, but it does the trick quite nicely, and is making my day so much easier. Also Dan, next time I have a problem, hit me over the back of the head and tell me to read your tutes. I have solved almost every problem on my own tonight thanks to them. Also its 1:17am

Its now 2:54. Ive finished all the making, now I just have to do the usb cable and do some rendering. Its looking good.

Bit hard to see but you get the idea.
Also, security made me take my bike downstairs. Not happy.

Saturday 26 May 2012

long night

Ok, the lack of posts is due slightly to actual progress, which is a very rare thing, so im hoping not to stop now.
adding pcb
Ive been working alot in assemblys, they are just so much easier, and it means that you can edit stuff so much easier, but it does mean, if you screw anything up, or change any relations, stuff goes very wrong. Which is annoying. And has happened quite a few times now. Its very annoying.

That being said, its starting to look quite cool, im sorta amazed its actually coming together. I dont mean to put myself down, but from the outset of the project, i wasnt sure it would ever actually happen. Still, it is so i dont care.

Its still annoying tho.
Not that annoying tho. Or that creepy.

Also, Ive just had this crushing realisiation. I have been modeling around a picture, so there is a very large chance the mouse wheel wont fit..... Im scared. This blog makes so much more sense in real time.

Looking good. So scared.
Im actually terrerfied. I cant really bring myself to put the rest together. Ive already decided, if it doesnt line up, Im leaving it how it is anyway. Its way to late to fix now. Dam it Dan, why did you have to choose such a hard project.

Ok, so in the time between me putting all the surfaces on, it didnt fit, so i had to fix it, since that last paragraph (if you can call it that) there has been 2 of the back to the future movies, to which i have to say, Biff is an awefully rape'y character, infact, the entire movie is, which is disturbing. Anyways, back to cad:
MOTHERFLIPPING YEAH BABY
So yeah, thats good. Also, in the process of fixing it, I took absoultly no photos. Why? I have no idea, but all I really had to do was edit a few of the orginal projected curves, which took ages. Doesnt matter. Thats in the past. Or future?

I dont even think this is from the movies, i dont care, I want to  go to bed
You better notice all the detail Ive put into this freeking thing. Or Ill never forgive you.

Just me, adding stuff
I think its the time  that is the killer. I mean, Ive been working really solidly, and intend on going into uni tomorrow night to help out some of my friends, cause im such a good guy.
You know what this is
So Im thinking its about finished on most of the small details, which is nice, its taking some time, but its almost done I think.

Ok, its been like another hour. Freeking blog.

I love the render window. Its the best.

Monday 21 May 2012

Its all in the details

I really like the equal curvature button
So, after fixing the last problem, I have been sorta sailing, which is nice. I'm not looking forward to actually assembling the entire thing, cause I don't think its going to work to well, but I should be optimistic, cause you know, its me, and I'm next to perfect.
Its actually looking good

Mouseception

A mouse in a mouse?
We need to go deeper.
So, continuing on with the process, I was finding I was having problems with just grasping the concept of making this model without really using dimensions, meaning there was so much left to guess work, which annoyed me greatly, as some can understand, it makes me uneasy, but anyways:
Making the matt bit
I found myself constantly changing the background for this part, I just found it so hard to see the split and do anything without being able to easily see the split, and for some reason I couldn't turn off the other curves without the entire model going away.

Ive been having quite a few problems with the whole surface modeling thing for a while now, mainly I didn't realize two of my surfaces were not actually connecting, and infact they were two separate surfaces, making everything SO much harder.  Anyway, that is now fixed, so ill show some progress pictures:
You can just see its solid, baby
So, I have made it split also, which is good, I struggled to get a picture, so ill get a good one later.
Yeah Baby.
"What?"
Get it? Thug baby? Ha.

wookies do the best skids

This is my life
Come on unisa.

Anyways, aside from the lack of teaching staff, and the useless waste of resources ever present in our uni, I shall continue with this blog, despite my reservations about its subject matter.

Before I jump into cad, I would like to start with the most amazing piece of design in the world ever. Its the best. It really is the most amazing bike in the entire world.

GASHPLOOSH
Its SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool. So very cool. Its so freeking cool.

Anyways, Cad:
Yeah
So its slowly coming into shape, which is looking kinda cool, progress is slow, very very slow, and I hate it, but its becoming an enuring relationship. Kinda like the USA and Bill Clinton, you hate him, but at the same time you are sorta saying, nice dude, nice.
Suck it
So, as I was saying, progress. Its happening. The internals arnt going to be amazing, just due to the lack of time, I mean, short and simple, it will have them, but not to the degree of what the actual model has. I even got next friday off work so I could actually come into uni, which was harder than you would think.

Wookies do the best skids
So thats happening
Yeah, im a little stuck here, just trying to figure stuff out. Ive been at it for a few hours, so Im going to go home and try again tomorrow. And also, Alex left his computer on. Buhahahahahahahahah

Monday 14 May 2012

Im running out of mouse related puns

Hokay, so, stuff has sorta been working, slowly over the last few weeks. As the deadline draws near, I keep realizing how much I really havn't done, and how I should working on this rather than playing Kerbal Space Program, but thats sorta cad related, in an incredibly round about way.
Its so much fun, and its FREE (Demo anyways)
So, that aside, I have been trying to work on the top of the mouse, to get ready to create the buttons and whatnot, which is having issues.
Better or worse than the kiss tongue?
So yeah, dont know what is even going on there, in fact I have absolutely no idea how that even happened, all I know is it happened a few times, which to say the least was frustrating. So anyways, after stuffing around with that for a while, I gave in and just asked for help, which gave me this:
And I mean, that isnt to bad
Its not as good as I would have liked, but its about as close as I think im going to get, so whatever. Solidworks seams to have some major issues with surface modeling, not to say it doesnt work, it works well, but it needs to be slightly more refine. I think they should stop trying to make it work so well in normal Solidworks, still have it, but have it heaps more in depth in Catha or something, so its more a gimmick and somewhat useful tool, rather then trying to split the focus between the two. Rather then developing the surface modeling further, they should make a tool that fixes zero thickness errors, or at least lets you ignore them for later. That would be good.
Pas moyen de l'enfer vous visqueuses chien anglais
/rant
Anyways, back to modeling, with the top finally finished, I can start working on the clickly part.
